Roborock S7 Robot Vacuum Cleaner - Review

Today's society is built around a lot of jobs, so why expect less of our robots? The Roborock S7, the latest vacuum of robots and a mop from Roborock, does just that. In the past, we would not allow an unsupervised hybrid robot to run around our house with a tank full of water. However, the S7 is smart enough to raise its mop when it finds a carpet, making it an attractive solution for a long-standing table.
In addition to mopping smarts, the S7 offers solid cleaning performance combined with a quick map and a full customizable app. Although incomplete, in our review of the Roborock S7, we finally found a hybrid robot vacuum and a reliable mop.
Price and availability
The Roborock S7 was released on March 24, 2021, and is available on Amazon for $ 649 and Walmart.com for $ 599. Currently available in white, the black model will be released in June. Roborock also plans to release an automatic booth that will work with the S7 by the end of the year.
Design
The Roborock S7 does not break any new design space. At first glance, there may be an error with the Roborock S6 MaxV, with both front cameras removed. Both of these vacuums are 13.9 inches by 13.8 inches in diameter and stand 3.8 inches long, large enough as robotic pumps. No one can get into the legs of my dining chairs in the way of small bots, like the 13.3-inch Roomba i7+ can.
However, the S7 looks classer than its siblings and Roomba i7+. Enclosed in a shiny white plastic with a brimmed silver edge on top, the disc raised in the center inserts a Roborock logo and hides the Lidar sensor. Silver buttons for cleaning stains, power cleaning / start, and placement are pre-inserted. The bright orange button on the back releases the water tank that rides.
While its look is unmistakable, the Roborock S7 has a few design touches that give the bot a premium look and elevate power under the hood. First, there are external “ripples” that propagate outwardly from the logo disc - a subtle vibration into the mop son sonibrating vibrate on the machine. Similar to the iRobot Roomba s9, there is a curved light that moves and changes color when the robot is active. Although much smaller than the Roomba s9 light, the white light moves from left to right in normal rest mode. In the cleanup mode, it changes from green to blue and back again.
Cleaning operation
Cleaning with the Roborock S7 was the fastest way to exercise. It is a quick and complete cleaning that provides solid overall performance. Because it uses Lidar to make a map, the vacuum was able to map completely to my first floor at once. Once the map is created, the S7 clears the way, defines the edges of the room, and then works with an S-shaped pattern. It's gentle, too. Like most map traffic, slow down as you approach the visible barrier. I watched intently as we approached the steps of the stage, cleaned the bottom of it, and stepped back. It collided with the feet several times, but it was not enough to remove it.
Speaking of frustration, although the Roborock S7 picked up 96% of dog hair on hardwood, most of it was wrapped in a rubber brush and front wheel. Thankfully, both the brush and the wheel were easy to remove and clean.
Mopping performance
Throughout my exploration of dozens of robots and robot mops, I often find hybrid vacuum and mop robs as jacks for all activities but I know nothing. The Roborock S7 is a wonderful surprise. First, it is wise enough to avoid removing too many carpets. While the 5 millimeter mopping plate does not sound like much, I found that it was enough to avoid getting my carpet wet. The slightly thicker door mat felt a little wet after the S7 left it, but it was much lower when I stepped on it after entering the door during the rain. However, the mopping attachment often clung to the edges of the local magnets, causing the corner to rotate briefly under the machine before the board released them.
Like the Roborock S6 MaxV, the S7 can go out and clean at the same time. Unlike the S6 MaxV, it performs well both functions. The Roborock S7 dusted off a pile of bread crumbs in my kitchen and cleaned it up. It was at this point that I saw the best use of cleaning and scrubbing at the same time: The pad pad was able to hold the vacuum pipe crumbs.
VibraRise lifting mop pad combined with carpet discovery made a difference with the Roborock S7. In my review of the Roborock S6 MaxV, I complained that the bot could find the carpet, but could not use that information to keep the mop off the carpet. While lifting a mop pad 5 millimeters will not save the entire surface area from mopped availability, it is helpful.
In the Roborock app, you can choose between Standard mopping, on and off simultaneously, or Deep Mopping. With Deep Mopping, the S7 will go with a solid pattern and cover the set area twice. I didn’t see much difference in cleaning between these two methods except for the inactive vacuum. In both cases, you can select the "Scrub Scrub:" Close, Medium, Medium, or Highly I was able to see and feel the difference in mop vibration as it switched between scratch options. According to Roborock, sonic vibrations range from 1,650 to 3,000 times per minute. By comparison, the vibrating mopping attachment sold by the Ecovacs attachs to the Deebot Ozmo T8 oscillates 480 times per minute and does not lift its pad.
