Samsung Galaxy Watch (Best for Samsung Users) - Review
The Samsung line of Glass Watches is another entry point with the Always-On option. This makes sense, as its direct competitors are the Apple Watch 5.
These are both great watches, and if you have no problem spending money and looking for a generalist watch with many apps, the real choice between Samsung Galaxy and Apple Watch 5 is the OS you need. Apple 5 belongs to Apple users; Samsung is not present.
Another difference in style. If you need a watch that will match a high-end wardrobe for beautiful rooms or beautiful dinner parties, then the Samsung Galaxy is probably the best watch on the market. Looks like something the collector can put in the shadow box.
Its round, stainless steel case gives a typical look, where its rotating bezel only adds to it. Divers, pilots, and other technicians often used these bezels on ancient, analog clocks to track time. For the Samsung Galaxy, the bezel is cleverly designed to navigate menus.
This feature is more beneficial than it may sound at first. Samsung has also revived the style from classic watches and introduced a feature that allows users to easily interact with their watch. Rotate left to see your notifications.
Circle well to quickly access widgets. Combined with body buttons and a touch screen, this is among the most accurate watches you can use.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 (reviewed below) also has a rotating bezel version - though this is a visual bezel that uses haptics to mimic the feel of the visible bezel.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch comes in two different sizes: 46mm version and 42mm version. The 46mm model has a silver and black theme while the 42mm model comes with a gold rose or midnight black. Both are comfortable.
The large style looks great on a large wrist with formal wear. The smaller variety looks very natural on small trees and in active wear.
However, on the other hand, there is an important technical component in various sizes. The larger, 46mm model has a larger screen and a battery that lasts as long as 24 hours. These are both important components of any wearable tech, and for this reason we recommend the 46mm version.
Samsung Clocks - Galaxy included - works on Tizen OS, used by Samsung on its TVs (and other devices). Tizen's environment as a multi-platform OS is part of what allows the bezel to rotate the Galaxy.
The Tizen OS is also responsible for the long battery life of the Galaxy. The 46mm model will easily last for four days (smaller version, 42mm stays 3 - still valid). These are common uses, downloading notifications and messages, tracking performance, and making honest attempts to communicate with Bixby, AI’s lack of Samsung.
Like all excellent smartwatches, Samsung's Galaxy has fitness tracking capabilities, with a variety of sensors and Samsung Health apps. This will move you when you get to sit down too much and you can automatically get yourself six different tests (you can set to get another 33 tests). It also has a sleep tracker and is waterproof with a maximum depth of 50 meters.
The problems with this watch are mostly at the end of the software, rather than the hardware. First, some of the most frequently used, most important, non-existent apps, including Facebook Messenger, Google Maps and WhatsApp.
Other issues include the lack of robust applications that come with Wear OS, such as Google Health and others. The only apps you get are the ones that are available on the Tizen system, which is not as different as those on Wear OS or iOS.
The voice assistant, Bixby, is also under pressure. It has difficulty understanding many of the voice commands, a problem that can be solved over time as the company develops its capabilities.
